Glee: 04×11: Amateurs Have Threesomes, Professionals Have Foursomes

In this week’s episode entitled ” Sadie Hawkins” we see Tina actually getting quite a few lines and treated like an actual season regular that’s been there since the pilot as opposed to her background character alter ego. So let’s begin:

Too Young To Be Bitter Club

A very disgruntled Tina decides that prom is too far away and that the guys get all the choice and power, so in order to make the ladies of Mckinley feel empowered they should do a Sadie Hawkins dance. After winning by a unanimous vote (bar Blaine due to his past bullying experience at his Sadie Hawkins dance),  the girls start weighing up their options of who to ask to the dance. Most of the pairing were quite obvious, others were quite interesting.

Tina decides that she’s going to ask Blaine to the dance via awkward song. The look on everyone’s faces as she awkwardly sings ‘I Don’t Know How To Love Him’ which is actually a quite funny song title as I’m assuming that Tina was asleep these past 2 seasons not to know that Blaine is gay. I guess that explains her silence and lack of screen time. Hmm. Anyway, Tina gets rejected infront of everyone by Blaine marking her most embarrassing moment in Glee club history… ever.

After stealing cheeky stares at Blaine’s ass, Tina decides that she’s not just taking rejection, she confronts Blaine and they hash it out where Blaine admits he has a crush on Sam. Tina sympathises with him and they decide to go as best friends instead. They go to the dance and have a really good time, so good they’re about to share a kiss, to which Sam, (cockblock of the year) drags Blaine away for an important update about his Warbler investigation. Poor Tina. Tissues anyone?

Roid Rage

With Sam very unconvinced that the Warbler’s played fair at Sectionals due to all their spectacular acrobatics, decides to conduct an investigation. With more speculation than evidence, he’s discouraged by most of the other Glee clubers to drop it. He comes up with a video showing Hunter flipping out about his coffee order, Sam blames it all on roid rage and that’s why all the Warblers look more muscular than before and were able to pull off all those jumps and flips. After getting a surprising and unrealistic confession from Trent from the Warblers, it is confirmed that they were using performance enhancing drugs. So I assume that means that the Warblers will get disqualified and New Directions gets back into the competition totally disregarding the third competing group that played fair? Sigh.

You Got Zized!

After a season and a half without the amazing Lauren Zizes it was really good seeing her in this episode. As usual she offered up a lot of sassy, hilarious remarks. She was a member of Tina’s ‘Too Young To Be Bitter’ club and was one of the girls to be dateless at the dance, due to fearing rejection. In my honest opinion that doesn’t seem very Zizes like, but I accept the storyline due to finally having her back! She ends up asking Joe Hart to dance with her and he agrees. It is revealed at the end of the episode that she applies for a Wrestling scholarship at Harvard.

I Got 99 Problems & A Puckerman Ain’t One

Marley asks Jake to the dance after a really fun girl group number of ‘Tell Him’ by The Exciters to which he accepts. Unfortunately for Marley, Kitty also wants a piece of the young Puckerman and offers up her Christian, virginity to him, something that she insists Marley won’t do. Confused by the choices infront of him, Jake seeks out some brotherly advice from none other than his half brother, Puck. Pucks advises him to stick to Marley, which he does and leads to the two having a really cute prom night together. Puck adamant that he doesn’t want Kitty messing up his little brother’s new romance confronts Kitty demanding that he leaves Jake alone. Kitty being the opportunist she is, decides to leave Jake and ask Puck himself to the dance, only after offering up hot steamy sex as a side dish. Puck teases Kitty saying that she’s an amateur and that he’s a pro saying that ‘amateurs have threesomes and professionals have foursomes’. They end up going to the dance together and have what seems to be a good time. Kitty even applauds his first effort of screenwriting after insulting his spelling and grammar errors. The two run off to what can only be assumed as hot steamy sex in the back of her car.

Adam’s Apples Got Back

Kurt has finally started at NYADA! Wandering the huge, lonely campus that is NYADA, Kurt tries to find his new niche, so he decides to join an extra curricular club. Kurt is then asked to join by obvious new love interest Adam of the Adam’s Apples. Adam insists he comes and sees them perform after his polite decline due to Rachel’s forewarnings. Eventually Kurt gives in and watches the Apples do a hilarious rendition of ‘Baby Got Back’.

After conveniently running into Adam way too many times, Kurt realises he has a crush on him. Rachel persuades him to ask him out, to which Kurt nervously does and asks him out for coffee. Adam agrees. So umm, Blaine who?

Sleepovers & More

Rachel & Brody’s budding relationship seems to be moving quite quickly as they’re having sleepovers (already!). I wonder if they have matching pyjamas and pillow fights like she did with Kurt? Anyway, just as shocked as we are to see how fast this relationship is moving, in a bid to get Kurt to take a leap of faith and ask his new crush out, Rachel says “there’s nothing like being in love in New York!”, to which Kurt reads every single person watching this moment’s mind and replies with “Already?” with the most confused face. Gotta love Kurt!

Later on, an upset Rachel actually surprised me and told off Brody for being 45 minutes late making their food cold and obviously pissing her off. It was nice to see Rachel really stand up to a man in her life and not just be so submissive. Brody who apologised profusely blamed his tardiness on the train being delayed and decided he’s going to get an apartment closer to Rachel so that he’ll never be late again (cue the violins). Rachel comes up with a better idea, and asks him to move in. So I’m assuming that Rachel is so in love with him, or she’s just as naive as she was in high school, but either way… I can’t even deal.

Conclusion:

  • Rachel is still the sad hopeless romantic she has and will always be.
  • Lauren Zizes needs to come back permanently!
  • The irony of Blaine having a crush on Sam, just like Kurt did.
  • Will Tina ever get her happy ending?
  • Kurt mans up and actually asks Adam out.
  • Am I the only one seeing a Puck-Kitty romance blooming?
  • So is it to be assumed that if the Warblers get busted for cheating that New Directions automatically gets their spot at Regionals?
  • How cute is Jarley (Jake & Marley)?
  • What was up with Ryder and that girl with the neck brace?
  • Am I the only one that found it weird that Puck & Zizes had no interaction and their breakup wasn’t addressed?
  • So does Kurt at NYADA mean no more SJP on Glee? Say it ain’t so! 😦
